Tech Plan Goals
#1 Systems Management
I. Technology Support
• Computer help forms -- Hard copy helpdesk
forms are in the staff workroom.
II. Technology Integration
• HCS Computer Classes –first class:
Saturday, January 11 (9-3) at STC Computer Explorations with 15+ enrolled.
• NDE Tech Plan Part 2.4 – STC has adopted
educator and administrator technology standards. The standards are
located at http://www.nde.state.ne.us/TECHCEN/. Tracy suggested that
we include a technology goal on teacher’s self-evaluations at
the end of each semester to better implement the standards.
III. Information Management:
• Web site – Starting 2nd semester,
the Web Design class will work on moving the Web site and updating
features such as putting the links and Scrip order forms online.
• Tech Plan – We revised Part
III, Data Collection:
• Info Management To do list:
Implement the K-12 planet module for WinSchool
MacSchool to WinSchool History transfer and Exchange Server
• WinSchool has been moved to the new WINSCHOOL
server.
• Wireless Security – Tracy will check
with John to see if there is any software or hardware solution available
for our vulnerabilities.
• Tech Plan Consequences – Father suggested
that we agree on some written guidelines for tech plan violations.
Administrators and tech administrators were to submit suggestions
by Friday, 1/10/2003.
• Media Center Automation – Tracy will
order the necessary equipment and software to implement AutoLibrarian.
•Backup Exec – Tracy will email Joe
LeDuc about getting a license for Exec Backup for the new servers
so that we are able to back up our data more efficiently.
#2 Curriculum Development
• Techworks proposal – TechWorks will
be ordered for Fall 2003 and adopted for the Middle School students;
Tech Prep will continue to be developed for the High School Students.
The TechWorks curriculum is in line with the adopted ISTE standards,
as is the Tech Prep classes.
• Tech Prep Goal: Coordinate with other teachers
(if interested) to see if any other classes qualify for Tech Prep credit.
Tracy will meet with Kay Theer to discuss articulation for Foods starting
1/17/03.
• Document Stands – ordered 2 trial stands,
Tracy will investigate some that Vicki found at Sam’s Club for
$3.97.
• Technology Awards Discussion – All Computer
Application Students who receive an A or B will receive a Technology
Literacy Award. Tracy will be proposing a similar Middle School Awards
Program.
#3 Hardware and Software
• Connection – we set up a range of static
IP’s for Websense.
• Networking, Scanner, Software Adobe PageMaker
Upgrade for STC Media – Yearbook, STC media in progress and scheduled
to be complete on Wednesday, January 15.
• Machines – RAM has been obtained and
funded through donors for the teacher’s machines.
• Printers/Eakes – Copier/Printer Demo
on Thursday before and after school.
• To do:
Set up mail server (Tracy will email Allen for a time to do this)
Set up network for STC Media (Jan 15)
Move computers for 207 and 208
• Need a plan for replacing/updating computers
and software – Tracy will email Carol B to see if we can create
a subcommittee to investigate this further. Tracy will email Joe LeDuc
to see if the Diocese Donor has a program in place.
• Need 2 more switches or fast hubs –
Tracy will email Joe LeDuc to check on the status of the promised switch(es).
• Come up with a plan for the library lab by
next meeting.
#4 Financial Facilitation
Diocese Donor
Fundraising –
Recycled Cell phone fundraiser – have 7 qualifying phones
so far. We will advertise in the links and online, also.
Valentine’s Day Computer Matching – Tracy sent
these in and the Technology Club will sell the results to the homerooms
on February 14th.
To-do: grants/loans through Hastings College and through the
NE Catalyst Program and through Enhanced Ed through Technology.
