STC Technology Planning Committee Meeting
Minutes
Wednesday 3/14/2007, 3:30-5:00
PM STC Room M201 (MS Lab)
Reports
Diocese Technology Update
Laptops
We received 38 laptops for Teachers with software.
Teachers completed an orientation session and signed a laptop loan agreement.
SmartBoards
We discussed asbestos removal for projectors - Fr.
Meysenburg said that costs are prohibitive. The current method of mounting
projectors on stabilized tires works at the moment.
The following rooms currently have SmartBoards installed.
We are requesting more for next year through CDOL. They have been granting
requests at a rate of 3 a semester, and hopefully will continue to do
so.
- M201 MS Computer Lab
- Library Library
- M106 6th Math/Science
- M102 MS Science
- 103 HS Math
- 108 HS Math
- 105 HS Computer Lab

Diocese Ed Trouble Ticket Process Report
- last visit on 2/23/07 addressed the following:
1441 – Sibelius software for Music & Band
1405 – SynchronEyes - Discussed being a test site for this lab
management software.
1665 – Laptop down - will need to be re-ghosted on site, unfortunately
the old drive was too far gone to be recovered. Additionally the image
which was on a laptop used temporarily for summer installs, is gone.
So that means we re-ghost from an existing laptop within the school.
1653 – UPS Down – Will be added to CDOL's March Monthly
Action Plan
1647 – DV Camera – Will be added to CDOL's March Monthly
Action Plan pending Joe/Sr.Mary finding a model and quotes
1646 – You will have to contact Dennis Pitzl for this: dennisp
at prattav.com he can point you to where to buy replacement items.
3 Data Projectors - Joe will add it to CDOL's Action Plan for possible
funding. If the donors will not fund, Joe will give us a quote to purchase
at their price
Cisco Router – installed
Switches – 2 Cisco Switches installed - one in the Fine Arts
building, one in the Library Server Room
Accelerated Reader – V6.36 is now installed on the server and
most client machines that need them
1 Cad Lab machine – Sent to CDOL not working; seems fine after
windows restore, has been returned
1 Lab Workstation – Sent to us blue screening, has been running
fine since it’s been here, have run disk and board diagnostics
with no indication of hardware failure at this time, has been returned
New Equipment: Workstations, Laptops, Desktops – Will be deferred
until summertime, with exception of two CAD Compatible laptops, we will
start looking at possible models ASAP.
Chancery SMS Update Report - teachers
would lose grades while using the "copy assignments" process,
but I have had no reports since teachers stopped using the process. We
updated between 1st and 2nd quarters. Things seemed to go well. More teachers
are using it.
Synchroneyes
We will get to be a test site, provided that the donor
approves.
TOP 10 Needs
- Requesting more SmartBoards for next year
- Requesting new machines in the MS Lab
- Requesting new machines in the Library Lab
- Requesting new robust laptops to match the new lab machines
- Requesting 3 projectors with docks and carts for teacher use
K12 Planet/Chancery Parent Link
Asked Marie and Fr. Meysenburg M to ask at their administrator
meeting about CDOL providing some kind of Gradebook access for parents
via the Internet. We know they have been working on a Chancery/Blackboard
link, but progress has stalled (as reported by CDOL). K12
Planet already works with Chancery SMS - would they allow access for
our school? Perhaps CDOL could host a K12 server if security is a concern?
Workshops/Trainings
Blackboard
- entire faculty was trained Wed, Jan 24. Some faculty are using it regularly.
Would like to have a goal of teachers posting lesson plans and/or assignments
for students who miss.

as well.

AutoLibrarian
Update - we will order the necessary upgrade (a little over
$200) and ask if STM would like us to order one for them as well.

listing service - we will use the Report process in AR and
host the report on our website, and reevaluate later on the user-friendliness

Lunch Internet Access - we will place Marie's old laptop
in the lunchroom for Pam to use, so that we don't have to upgrade the
