STC Bazaar

November 19

2006-2007

The bazaar is an event that happens every year and is great for the whole family with a lot of things to do from raffles to games for all ages, and a chicken noodle dinner. It usually takes place a week or two before Thanksgiving

The bazaar is a place where you could spend the whole day. It does not cost to get in. It opens at nine and closes at six, but between those times there are a handful of things to do. There are raffles, such as the quilt raffle, where you can win variety of decorative quilts, and then there is a raffle called the super seven raffle with prizes such as I-pods, Gameboys, a statue of the Holy Family, a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and much more. And then there is a large stage raffle in which you buy a raffle ticket from the vendors. They're worth one, two, or five dollars. Once all of the tickets are sold, they spin the big wheel, and if your number gets called you get to go up to the prize vendors and pick one of the six prizes available that round. At the bazaar, there is also a variety of booths, such as cake walk, where you use a quarter and try to win a cake, and there is an attic treasures booth, where you can buy old antiques that people give away. At the bake sale and candy booths, people make cakes and candy for sale. There is a booth where gift baskets are sold. There are booths that sell old books and cinnamon rolls. There are also a variety of games for young and old alike. There is a color sand bottle booth. There are some gambling types of games, as well as a dart throw, arrow shoot, and basketball shoot. The bazaar brings in about $30,000 a year.

The best part of the whole bazaar is the famous chicken noodle dinner which starts at eleven and goes all day. It is delicious! The noodles are prepared fresh about a week or two before and frozen until the morning of the dinner. There are also warm biscuits made fresh throughout the day, coleslaw, which is made fresh, and to drink, there is pop, coffee, and iced tea. If you can't get enough, they have carry-out, which starts at twelve and goes all day. It is just ten dollars for a delicious tub of it and a bunch of bisquits. Tickets for the dinner cost six dollars each, but it is all you can eat and you are helping out the school too. The Dinner usually serves about six hundred a year, and raises about $16,000.

The bazaar is a great fun place where you can spend your whole day with out feeling like you wasted a day, and it is just a great community with lots of happy people, delicious food and an all around great time.
